. Love. My. Kinect.

If you had doubts because of the price or because some fanboys were swaying your opinion to thirs. I'm not someone to judge before purchasing or trying something, but I was sketical with all the negative feedback at first. Then I realized, the negative people NEVER EVEN TRIED IT. An opinion is not a fact kiddos.

Onto the review. The system is amazin. I have it set up in my bedroom, which isn't that big. I have a good amount of floor space. Only need to be like 5-6 back for Dance Central and 6-7 for Kinect Sports and Adventures. [I am 5'9] The sensor is so acurate, It detects all your correct and all your wrong movements.

The moment I unboxed I could not turn it off, even cancelled a dental appointment so I could play it with my friends.

You are getting what you pay for, for the price you put down. Ignore anyone who says otherwise. Don't let the fact that the wii is 50 dollars more phase you, because it is NOT the same thing. I love my Wii so much, but I love the hands on, controller less experience. I could cheat so many ways with my wii controller into thinking I was doing the move but just stood there and moved my arms. I can't cheat with the kinect haha.

IIt so fun watching your avatar mimic your movements in Kinect Sports and when I play with my friends online they always laugh from the awkward ways my avatar places, because they can only imagine how I look doing that. And vice versa.

Okay so I don't normally review things too often but I just felt I had to actually put the word out there about this product because a lot of people are basically sweeping this technology under the rug claiming it is a Wii rip off and sucks because of this. Let me tell you it is so much better than the Wii.

Some of the major complaints are about space, and yes you do need space to play the game, then again it would be a bad idea to play the game with stuff in the way anyway because you are likely to trip over it like a fool or bump into the other player, which happens even with enough space so you can imagine the problem in a smaller space. That being said I think it is not a flaw at all. I always cleared out the coffee table and the like for the Wii games as well so I see no problem in doing it with the Kinect.

The next complaint is in the lag. It lag if it is present is barely noticeable. For a first release of the product, being only out for a few weeks now and impossible to find in most stores because of how much it is selling, I think it is quite good. I imagine there will be updates in the future that will make the lag non existent but like I said it is hardly noticeable at all.

The voice commands are spot on and the xbox always seems to hear my find whether I am right in front of the kinect or in the other room, or even mumbling as I have a tendency to do. When more features of the xbox dashboard like Netflix and DVD playback are updated for use with the Kinect I think it will be an amazing piece of technology. It has so much potential already, and it is only a few weeks old.

The last thing most people complain about is the price for an add on to an already existing console. Let me tell you $150 bucks is well worth the price. I mean you get Kinect Adventures with it, which kinect games are retailing at about 47-50 bucks so that really means the Kinect is really only about 100 bucks and I think that is a good deal. The major selling point is once you get that $150 Kinect you will never have to buy any other attachments or controllers again, just whatever games you want to own.

With the Wii it starts to get expensive. If you want to have up to 4 people playing at once like some of the games on the Wii allow for you are looking at spending 20 bucks for each controller. One comes with the system which retails at like $240 on average. If you want, then you want three other controllers which retail at about $20 each which add up to about $60 total, not even counting the tax this is just a rough estimate. So with the Wii, and the three extra controllers you have about $300 spent. Then you have to consider batteries. If you want to get the rechargeable batteries it is probably best to get the quad charging station that comes with four batteries. That retails at about $30 so now we are up to $330.

So you setup your Wii and little Timmy is so excited he forgets to use the wrist strap and sends the wii mote flying through the 42 inch lcd screen destroying the wii mote and the TV. To replace the wii mote you need another $20 and the TV is going to run you $800-$1000 easy especially since you decided it would be a good time to upgrade so you want to get the best top of the line TV.

With the Kinect you buy it for $150. You get a game Kinect Adventures, and that is it. You do not need batteries, you do not need extra controllers, you do not need wrist straps so Timmy will not accidentally throw the controller through your expensive TV, and you do not need batteries. You are all set and ready to play with all of your friends and have a good old time.

Let's not even get into the fact the colorful ways people have already implemented the Kinect with their computers within the first few weeks of it being out. In time the product will only get better and really the sky is the limit. Highly recommended for the whole family! (Posted on 2/25/11)

I went and bought myself a kinect at midnight last night and couldnt stop playing until 3 in the morning, and even then i stayed up for another hr thinking about how cool the kinect system was. The first thing that i thought was really impressive was the ability to use voice commands in the Xbox main menue to do basically everything, i basically just sat on the couch and told my xbox what to do. I didnt get a chance to play the kinect adventures but i did throw in a copy of kinect sports. I was really impressed by how well the kinect was able to track my every movement. The best part was at the end when the game shows the recording of you as you played, some of them can be pretty hillarious. The only negative thing about the kinect is that if you have a floor that isnt very sturdy and you are doing something in a game that requires running or a lot of jumping, the sensor will show an error because the floor is vibrating the sensor to much so it gets inacurate readings. I have a hard and fast rule - never buy first generation equipment, especially from Microsoft, and especially when it's brand new technology. However, rules are made to be broken, right?
We tried the Kinect Sports and Your Shape games, we also have the Adventures game that came with, and I plan on getting the Dance Central game as well.

This Kinect system is scary cool!!! I played it with my son and it is insanely fun and addicting.. I went through netflix and everything is surprisingly smooth and flawless.. so far.. LOVE IT! highly recommended!! (Posted on 11/26/10)

It is a totally new gaming experience. I was simply amazed by it, I love this Kinect. The games are great, but Heck, I had fun even just controlling the animated avitar man with my body motions on the menu screens. ha ha. (Posted on 11/26/10)

The Kinect Sensor with Kinect Adventures was easy to install, it is well made. The Kinect interface exceeded my expectations. It makes the WWII an antique. It use absolutely no controllers etc. It just scans you shape and movement, amazing. You get quite a workout. The boxing is a better workout then I get at the gym. Kinect is a fantastic new way to play video games. The Kinect adventure game is fun and I can't wait to see the other games they put out for it. It's super responsive and in the past hour that I've played it I've had a blast. I love the little pictures it takes, too! (Posted on 11/22/10)
